Weather Aware

With the storm approaching I would like to take this time to ask everyone when roads get bad PLEASE if you do not have to travel don't. Emergency personnel will be out during the winter storm event to assist motorists who are stranded. In the event the car is not being towed, they will be marking vehicles with yellow caution tape to show the vehicle has been checked and cleared. We appreciate the concern from citizens, however these vehicles have been cleared and do not need to be reported to dispatch. Response time will be delayed possibly with the road conditions worsening.
I also would like to point out a few safety tips for traveling and keeping yourself warm at home.
1. Traveling bring heavy cloths/ Blankets if in an emergency you have proper clothing to stay warm.
2. keep phones charged
3. If stranded in an automobile, make sure the exhaust is clear of obstructions to eliminate any carbon monoxide threats.
4. Electrical heaters keep Debre free from the heat source. don't use extension cords with them.
It is my plan to keep everyone updated on the storm progression as we approach it . I will be trying to get updates out when I get them. This storm has been changing by the minute so we are watching it very close. Estimated snow falls between Friday evening through Sunday evening have the potential between 8" to 14" as of now. The cold air is very severe with windchill factors in the negative teens. Please Be careful if you have to be out in this weather.
Thank You Sheriff Buehler.
