The Vernon County Sheriff's Office participated in Missouri's 2023 Click It or Ticket mobilization conducted May 22 - June 4, 2023. During the enforcement effort, officers issued a total of 19 traffic warnings including: 3 seat belt violations and 16 other traffic violations.

  "Seat belts are your single best defense in a crash," stated Sheriff Jason Mosher.  "Law enforcement will continue to encourage drivers to make a simple, smart choice to always buckle up and Arrive Alive."

  Five out of 10 people killed in 2022 Missouri traffic crashes were unbuckled. Missouri's seat belt use has shown significant improvement in the last five years, but the state remains just below the national average in usage. Missouri has an 88.87 percent seat belt use while the national average is 91.6 percent. Teens and pick-up truck drivers are among those least likely to buckle up at 71.8 percent and 74.4 percent, respectively. Buckle up and Arrive Alive.
