Traffic stop turns into short-lived foot pursuit with wanted fugitive

A foot pursuit ended with the arrest of a man wanted out of Cedar County Wednesday afternoon on the North end of Nevada during a traffic stop by a Sheriff's Deputy. According to Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher, the deputy called for additional units when he recognized a male subject in the vehicle as William Noel, who was attempting to give him a different name. Noel was wanted by the Cedar County Sheriff's Office after he fled from the Cedar County Courthouse after learning he had a warrant for his arrest.

Noel resisted arrest and fled on foot while the deputy was attempting to arrest him. The foot pursuit ended shortly, and Noel was taken into custody without incident. Noel, 33 of Sparta, MO was wanted for resisting arrest, assault on law enforcement officers. Additional charges are pending completion of the investigation.

Sheriff Mosher said his office was contacted by the Cedar County Sheriff's Office with information about Noel and the two agencies had been working together to apprehend Noel. Noel is being held in the Vernon County Jail with no bond.
