Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

Vernon County Sheriff's Deputies along with the CNET Drug Task Force conducted an investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine throughout Vernon County. According to Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher, CNET Investigators conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 200 block of W. Walnut Street in Nevada on Tuesday evening. During the investigation, the Sheriff's Office K9 alerted to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle. Suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was located during the investigation. One male subject was taken into custody on a 24-hour investigative hold where charges were submitted to the Prosecutor's Office for Distribution of a Controlled Substance in a Protected Location. The suspected methamphetamine is being sent to the MSHP Crime Lab for further analysis. The name of the subject has not been released pending the filing of formal charges.
