06/01/2020

According to Sheriff's Office Officials, Detectives were conducting a routine business check at a closed gas station/truck stop in Deerfield on Friday evening when they observed a vehicle that appeared to be suspicious. As Detectives pulled into the parking lot, the vehicle immediately left the parking lot. Detectives attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle for traffic violations on East 54 Hwy near 850 Rd when the vehicle failed to stop for the Detectives. According to Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher, Detectives pursued the vehicle for several miles before the vehicle eventually drove through a fence and into a field near the intersection of Rebel Rd and 1988 Rd in rural Nevada. The vehicle then crashed into the trees and both the driver and the passenger fled on foot into the woods. Both occupants of the vehicle were located and taken into custody without incident within a few minutes. Mosher says that both occupants of the vehicle were from out of State and the driver was on Parole out of Iowa. "If you are going to come to Vernon County and commit crimes, we will chase you down and you will go to Jail" says Mosher.

The driver has been identified as 31-year-old Kyle Adams, of Sioux City, Iowa. Adams has been charged with Resisting Arrest and 1st Degree Property Damage. The courts issued a $5,000 cash only bond for Adams, who is being held in the Vernon County Jail.
