11/27/2017

A Nevada resident is in jail after a vehicle pursuit early Saturday morning. According to Vernon County Sheriff’s Officials, a deputy began pursuing an SUV after he attempted to make a traffic stop in the area of 1525 and Lady roads in Vernon County. The Sheriff and Patrol Lieutenant were notified and responded to assist along with multiple other units. According to Sheriff Jason Mosher, the driver did not pick the best time to run from deputies. “We had three deputies getting ready to end their shift and two more that were just coming on duty when this guy ran. The Sheriff said deputies set up stop sticks ahead of the pursuit that resulted in three of the four tires being deflated. The pursuit ended in the area of 1238 and Lefler Roads. Suspected methamphetamines were located in the vehicle.

The driver has been identified as 25-year-old Cody M Bowles of Nevada. Charges were issued later in the day for Driving While Revoked and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Bond has been set at $25,000 cash only. Sheriff Mosher said he would have preferred the vehicle stop, but if they are going to run, shift change is the best time.
